Summary
Oral dysbiosis, the primary cause of poor oral health, is largely influenced by age and other medical conditions. Oral
bacteria have been shown to contribute significantly to poor systemic health such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes,
and dementia. Since Canadian demographics show that the population is aging, there will be a large increase in seniors
needing oral healthcare. This presentation will discuss evidence-based treatment options to prevent oral dysbiosis and
maintain oral health for vulnerable high-risk populations.
